The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Class 12 supplementary exam results for the academic year 2024-25. These results were declared just a little over two weeks after the exams were held on July 15, 2025. This is important news for many students who were waiting to know how they did. These exams gave a second chance to students who wanted to improve their marks or who had not passed one subject earlier. CBSE has now shared how many students appeared, passed, and how different groups performed.

How Many Students Passed CBSE Class 12th

According to CBSE’s official data, 1,43,581 students had registered for the Class 12 supplementary exams. Out of these, 1,38,666 students appeared, and 53,201 passed the exams. This means the overall pass percentage is 38.36%, which shows that many students could make use of this extra chance to pass.

Although this number might seem low, for those 53,201 students, this is a moment of great relief and joy. They worked hard and got the reward for their efforts.

Girls Performed Better Than Boys in CBSE Class 12th

When it comes to performance by gender, girls did better than boys. The pass percentage for girls was 41.35%, while for boys it was 36.79%. This shows that girls scored 4.56% higher than boys in the supplementary exams.

This is a trend seen in many exams over the years, where girls often come out ahead in the results. It’s good to see them continuing to do well.

Performance of Transgender and CWSN Students

Among the transgender candidates, unfortunately, none passed this time. Although their numbers might be very small, this shows the need for more support and guidance so every student has a fair chance to succeed.

For Children with Special Needs (CWSN), the results were much better. Out of 273 students who appeared, 137 passed giving a pass rate of 50.18%. This is higher than the overall average and shows the hard work and determination of these students.

How Students in Foreign Schools Performed

There were also students from foreign schools who took the CBSE Class 12 supplementary exams. Out of 918 such students, 486 passed. This means their pass percentage was 52.94%, which is higher than the average for students in India. This shows that students studying abroad under the CBSE board are also performing well and making good use of the opportunities given by the board.

Who Appeared in the Supplementary Exams

CBSE allowed students to take the Class 12 supplementary exam if they fit into any of these three categories:

  1. Students who failed in one of the five main subjects.
These students were placed in the compartment category, meaning they had to clear one subject to pass overall.

  2. Students with six subjects.
If they failed in one subject, but passed overall using the sixth subject as a replacement, they could still appear to improve the failed subject.

  3. Students who passed but wanted to improve their marks.
Some students were already declared passed but wanted a better score, so they chose to take the supplementary exam to try again.

This system gives students a fair chance to improve and move forward without waiting a whole year.

How Will Students Get Their Mark Sheets

CBSE has made it clear how students will get their mark sheets and passing certificates.

  • Regular students will get their documents from their schools.

  • Private candidates in Delhi will get their mark sheets from their exam centres.

  • Private candidates from outside Delhi will receive the documents at the address they wrote in their application forms.

It is important that students collect and keep these documents safely, as they are needed for future studies, admissions, and job applications.

What About Result Verification

Sometimes, students may not agree with their results and might feel that they deserved more marks. For such cases, CBSE has announced that the verification process will begin on August 6, 2025. A separate circular will be issued soon, which will explain how students can apply for verification of marks. This means if you think there was a mistake in checking your answer sheet, you can ask the board to check it again.

The CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Exams are a valuable second chance for students. Even if the overall pass rate is 38.36%, thousands of students now have the success they worked for. Girls have once again shown excellent performance, and students with special needs also performed better than average. For those who could not clear the exam this time, don’t lose hope. There will be more chances ahead. Keep working hard, and success will come. And for those who passed — congratulations, you’ve made yourself and your families proud.
